Sony Park Exhibition ELECTRONICS with Creepy Nuts

Creepy Nuts decodes the Sony spirit with "Park Radio"! Footage of routines from world champion disc jockey DJ Matsunaga is also not to be missed!

Sony has so far continued to create unique, advanced products and services, starting with a portable radio and including the WALKMAN®, aibo, and recently noise-canceling headphones and the α™ (Alpha™) mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera. Ginza Sony Park thinks of these electronics as similar to the street culture that, unrestrained by convention and with the mindset to take on a challenge, stimulates many people. We therefore have now collaborated with Creepy Nuts, a unit that has swept the Japanese hip-hop scene and continues to take on challenges in multiple fields including radio and writing, to reveal the dual content of Creepy Nuts "Park Radio" and DJ Matsunaga Routines for Ginza Sony Park based on the theme "Electronics break the mold."

In the fictitious radio program Creepy Nuts "Park Radio" that can be heard in the Park, R-Shitei and DJ Matsunaga, who have a strong backing from late-night radio listeners, decode and discuss the mold-breaking "street" spirit at the root of things such as the Sony brand, the secret story of the creation of the WALKMAN, and famous sayings from Sony's founder from their own unique points of view and with their own interpretations. Visitors to the venue will not only be able to hear the original talk program from these two artists but also see a display of successive generations of products and related items introduced by them in their decoding of Sony's history and spirit. They can enjoy the combination of Creepy Nuts' unpredictable banter with a true-to-life exhibition of groups of successive generations of Sony products. Visitors can also have a look at the recording of this radio program on the screen of a giant model of Sony's old two-in-one television and radio cassette recorder, known by the nickname "the Jackal."

The other part of the exhibition, DJ Matsunaga Routines for Ginza Sony Park, will show footage of a performance by world champion DJ Matsunaga filmed for this program, from various angles fans cannot usually see. Visitors can experience a dynamic, technical performance from DJ Matsunaga in a hands-on space built from five sizeable screens of approximately 170 inches.

Be sure to enjoy this program created through the resonance between the spirits of Sony electronics and Creepy Nuts in this last period of the present Ginza Sony Park.

Electronics are synonymous with street culture.

In 1946, Sony's predecessor, Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo, was established in a run-down room in Shirokiya of Nihonbashi that had escaped the fires of war.

A challenging soul rose from the ashes.

The company has always been based on a free and easy-going spirit.

This spirit has created products and services that have delivered excitement to many people and prosperity to the world. Perhaps they are similar to street culture, inspiring the forming of new communities.

Based on this idea, Ginza Sony Park has combined street culture with Sony's spirit to offer a new experience.

Street culture has always changed the world.

That is what Ginza Sony Park believes.

Comments from Creepy Nuts

There were too many things we did not know about how Sony created commonplace items in our lives. We also realized that those contributions are beyond significant. It was nice to find out about an aspect of Sony we did not know, and the Sony anecdotes we learned about were really interesting. We definitely want many people to know about them and feel free to visit the exhibition. DJ Matsunaga

Relearning about the amazingness of Sony was illuminating. That was extremely fun. Visitors can enjoy either coming for a casual look or to absorb the exhibition intently. R-Shitei

Creepy Nuts "Park Radio" is a fictitious radio program that can be heard in the Park. The duo from Creepy Nuts, who have a strong backing from late-night radio listeners, host the program and introduce anecdotes about the transistor radio, the secret story of the creation of the WALKMAN, and famous sayings from Sony's founder such as: "It doesn't make much sense to guess and make predictions about the future. More than that, the future is something you create yourself." All of these can be called tales of the Sony brand, and the two artists decode the mold-breaking "street" spirit at Sony's root from their own unique points of view and with their own interpretations. Sony's backstory narrated by Creepy Nuts is must-listen audio content. Visitors can listen to the nine segments in the program by scanning QR codes in the venue. (We will also lend headphones to those interested.)

The exhibition features more than just this radio program narrated by the two artists. Successive generations of Sony products, advertising images, and numerous related items derived from these that were introduced by Creepy Nuts to decode Sony's history and mentality will be on display. By all means, experience the "street" spirit of Sony through this content combining the duo from Creepy Nuts' unpredictable banter with a true-to-life exhibition.

The venue will also recreate a giant model of the two-in-one television and radio cassette recorder from approximately 45 years ago known by the nickname "the Jackal." Visitors can have a look at Creepy Nuts during the recording of the program on the screen of this gigantic Jackal.
